Follow-up of the Conference
In order to provide follow-up for the recommendations of the Xth Mediterranean Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the CCM sent a questionnaire to all Mediterranean Societies concerning their priorities of action, current activities and foreseen joint initiatives focusing on the five core issues: migration, environment, principles and values, youth and the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations.
As of mid November, 16 out of the 25 National Societies have sent their feed-back: Andorra, Algeria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Hellenic, Italy, Libya, Malta, Monaco, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. From their inputs we can see two main areas where the National Societies would like to focus their efforts in the near future: environment and climate change programs and social projects; specifically, poverty alleviation and education.
We strongly encourage the National Societies that have not answered yet to send their feed-back because this is valuable information for the joint intervention in the region with special interest to the organization of the next XIth Conference, chaired by Croatian Red Cross.
